Within the framework of the 55th edition of the Beirut International Arab Book Fair, Asi-l-Hadath Lebanon: History of a Grotto, a book recently published by the Phoenix Center for Lebanese Studies attached to the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), won on November 2, 2011 first place for the Best Book Realization Prize awarded by the Arab Cultural Club and the Syndicate of Publishers Union. The Phoenix Center received the prize from H.E. Mr. Najib Mikati, Lebanese Prime Minister, during the inauguration ceremony of the book fair.
To be noted that the Phoenix Center for Lebanese Studies (PCLS), founded in 2008 in USEK, is a multidisciplinary space devoted to all fields related to Lebanon. Its objectives are three-fold: first, concerning information resources, it aims at establishing an analytical and thematic database covering all the fields related to Lebanese studies and forming archival collections that belonged to individuals or institutions; second, with respect to research, the Center seeks to establish at the same time interdisciplinary and international programs and initiatives, contributing to the development of knowledge on Lebanese culture and thoughts; while its third objective revolves around scientific diffusion, since the Center deploys many efforts to promote Lebanese studies, in Lebanon and abroad, and develop activities such as colloquiums, publications, participation in different forums and exchanges through scholarships, partnerships with national and international universities and institutions.
