Cooperation between Chester University and USEK

The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik signed on March 21, 2011 a cooperation agreement with Chester University, UK, in order to promote further bilateral relations between both institutions.

The Representatives from both universities signed a Memorandum to declare their intention to co-operate in enhancing academic and research opportunities for staff and students. The understanding relates to the encouragement and promotion of exchanges of teaching staff and students between Lebanon and the UK, both for promoting academic study and sharing knowledge and expertise between the two institutions.

The Memorandum, which was signed by Rev. Fr. Hady Mahfouz and the University of Chester’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Wheeler, provides a framework to explore educational opportunities. Discussions will take place between the two institutions to look at possible collaborations in project work; learning and teaching enhancement and the development and sharing of publications and other materials of common interest.

Rev. Fr. Hady and Executive Assistant Dr. Georges Yahchouchi, were given a tour of Chester and met with a range of representatives from across the University’s different faculties.

On this occasion, Professor Wheeler said: “We were delighted to welcome our guests from Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik to see both the city of Chester itself and explore links between our two institutions. By signing this agreement we pledge to work together to provide opportunities for both staff and students to learn from each other and share best practice.”

It is worth mentioning that the University of Chester is one of the oldest English higher education establishments in UK, and has around 14,000 students, drawn from the United Kingdom and overseas, particularly the United States, India, China, Japan, Russia, Greece, Finland, Nigeria, Hong Kong and Singapore.
