Former Minister Elias Skaff visited the USEK Main Campus on March 24, 2010 upon the invitation of Fr. Hady Mahfouz, USEK President who welcomed his guest, considering him a main Christian leader and praising his national positions and charitable works. In turn, Skaff thanked the USEK President for his warm reception, underlining the cultural role which the universities should play besides the academic and educational aspects in order to raise generations who are away from fanaticism, aware of their rights and duties.
A lunch was afterwards held on honor of the USEK guest in the presence of Fr. Youssef Tannous, Vice-President for International Affairs, Fr. Michel Abou Tacca, Director of the Student Affairs Office, President Joseph Chaoul, Dean of the Faculty of Law, besides a senior delegation of foreign academics. The lunch has not been without tackling the current political situation in Lebanon, wherein Skaff expressed his concerns.
Following a tour across the University’s departments and faculties, Fr. Mahfouz provided his guest with an overview about USEK, its mission and activities, in addition to its future strategies in the fields of development, excellence and quality assurance, and offered him a series of USEK publications.
