On October 18, 2012, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik celebrated the victory of its students, Rina and Romy Chibani, in the Miss Lebanon 2012 contest, respectively as the Queen and her first Runner-Up. The President of USEK, Reverend Father Hady Mahfouz, the Secretary General, Reverend Father Michel Abou Tacca, as well as the University Council members, the Teaching Board and the students welcomed the twin sisters and their family.
Media figure, Mrs. Magui Aoun, presented the ceremony and told the Queen: “… with the beauty of your soul and education, you crowned your University with a new honor…”
The President, Rev. Fr. Hady Mahfouz expressed his pride in the queen Rina and her twin sister Romy stating that “… this is a special day in the history of our University. Proudly, we gather today to celebrate this occasion. […] It is a beautiful feeling to have them and their family here because they represent the beauty of a solid family, the beauty of the Lebanese family which has given its two daughters, Rina and Romy, a good education.” He concluded: “… the beginning of this year was special because we witnessed a USEK student being crowned as Miss Lebanon 2012.”
Afterwards, the first Runner-Up, Romy Chibani, a 5th year student at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, took the floor and expressed how happy and proud she was to be a member of the USEK family. She then thanked everyone for the support they had shown.
Rina Chibani, Miss Lebanon 2012, stated: “It is a great honor to stand here in the University which taught me that beauty alone is never enough and that it needs to be complemented by culture. I am happy to be back today, in the place where I learned to love my beautiful country free of violence, terrorism, killings…, and I want to say that the most powerful weapons in the world are love, modesty and culture.”
Finally, Fr. Mahfouz offered Shields of Honor to Miss Lebanon and her Runner–Up. The cake was cut to the melody of Miss USEK and the Lebanese singer Ziad Imaz added his musical touch to the ceremony.
