This year, from April 15 to 19, 2013, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) opened its doors to approximately 1,500 students from a variety of schools in Lebanon to participate in the event called “Orientation and Welcome Week”.

Organized with a view to provide visitors with information about the University; these Orientation and Welcome Days are guided tour days, which differ from Open Days where the student used to visit all the faculties without the benefit of personal interaction as necessary. Therefore, schools were asked to indicate, in advance, the number of participants, and the desired specializations, to make the visit fruitful and enjoyable.

Whether in groups or individually, students had the opportunity to explore the campus with its Faculties, Institutes and Laboratories, to benefit from the exchange with the academic staff, and to communicate with students of the University.

The guest high school students were introduced to an activity called ‘Shadowing’ whereby the guest student followed a USEK student through all or part of the University day to gain insight into what a student experiences within the University setting. This approach, launched four years ago, aims to familiarize students in their final school year with the academic world by giving them the chance to attend courses they choose and to build a clearer idea of the specialization they dream of.
