On Tuesday May 27, 2014, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) organized a press conference to announce the return of the University’s delegation and Team Lebanon from Oceania and Africa, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Michel Abou Tacca, the General Secretary, and an audience of media figures, teachers, students and administrative staff.
The Director of the Press Office, Ms. Ghada Mouawad inaugurated the press conference saying: “The spirit of adventure and the love of nature took them to the highest peaks of the world…They overcame all difficulties and challenges… They are the five young men and two young women, members of Team Lebanon.” She added: “This project has a noble humanitarian goal, which is helping the Lebanese Red Cross, through the donations that can be accepted on the website of Team Lebanon…”
The Dean of the Faculty of Business and Commercial Sciences, Prof. Nehme Azouri, praised the success of the members of Team Lebanon in their professional life. He stated: “One of the missions of USEK is to support such youth initiatives serving the society; therefore, the University sponsored the last three adventures of Team Lebanon to the highest peaks of Europe, Africa and Oceania.”
Mr. Lindos Daou spoke on behalf of Team Lebanon, thanked the University for its support and said that this project aims to motivate the Lebanese youth to pursue their dream. He explained the details of the Team’s second mission in Oceania, which lasted 15 days and required high levels of physical resistance. He said: “We felt that we are on another planet; we walked on a mountain composed of solid volcanic rocks. Despite all the difficulties, nothing feels better than reaching the peak.”
Finally, Team Lebanon member Avedis Kalpaclian explained the details of the adventure of climbing the highest summit in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.
