On December 9, 2013, The U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, David Hale, visited USEK, with the President of Cultural and Media services of the Embassy, Mrs. Robin Holzhauer, the Cultural Attaché Mrs. Lisa Petzold and the Specialist of Cultural Affairs, Mr. Elie Fernini.

The President of the University, Reverend Father Hady Mahfouz, welcomed the visiting guests during a reunion held at his office, in the presence of Father Talal Hachem, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Rima Mattar, Director of the International Relations Office and Mr. Charbel Khoury, Director of the Public Relations Office. During this meeting, they highlighted the importance of reinforcing cooperation between the two parties and discussed ways of developing bilateral relations, particularly within the cultural and educational fields.

After exchanging tokens of mutual regard, they made a tour of the buildings, faculties, laboratories and amphitheaters. Through this the Ambassador was able to learn a lot more about the University.

In addition, a meeting was held between the Ambassador and several students from the Faculty of Law, where Hale discussed the U.S. politics applied in Lebanon and the scholarships awarded by the U.S. government to Lebanese students. This was followed by a debate on political news and political and academic subjects.
