On January 18, 2012, the USEK Band of Arabic Singing participated in the 18th Qurain Cultural Festival in Kuwait. The Band, conducted by Rev. Fr. Youssef Tannous, performed a concert on the stage of Abdel Aziz Hussein Cultural Centre in the Mushref area. Included in the performance were old and modern muwashahat and songs, written and composed by the Rahbani Brothers, Elie Choueri, Zaki Nassif and Wadih El Safi. The enthusiastic audience, who were highly delighted by the Band’s performance, applauded long and loud in their great appreciation of the Band’s outstanding performance. It should be noted that Mr. Faysal Darwish, Director of Music Management for the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, presented the Festival’s shield to Fr. Tannous at the start of the concert.
Soloist singing was performed by: Rafka Fares, Mohammad El Etr, Rita Bou Saleh, Marcel Badaoui, Rafiq Khoueiry, Elie Elia and Joseph Fadous. Kuwaiti television featured a number of the Choir’s members for one hour, during which they discussed genuine singing and also performed various songs.
