The USEK Choir returned to Lebanon after participating in the Maronite colloquium organized by the Maronite Diocese of Aleppo under the patronage of His Eminence Bishop Youssef Aniss Abi Aad, Archbishop of Aleppo.
The Choir, led by Rev. Fr. Youssef Tannous, USEK Vice-President for International Affairs, served the ceremonial Mass presided by Maronite Archbishop of Beirut Boulos Matar, representing His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, and held on September 25, 2010 in Brad (west of Aleppo) near the tomb of Saint Maron. The Choir performed as well an evening musical concert at the theater of the Directorate of Culture in Aleppo, attended by the Apostolic Nuncio in Syria, official Syrian representatives, besides a number of eminent figures in the religious, political, cultural and musical fields. At the end of the concert, Bishop Abi Aad warmly thanked Fr. Hady Mahfouz, USEK President, for all the efforts he deployed for the success of the colloquium and thanked as well the USEK Choir for their outstanding artistic performance and the pious spiritual ambiance they added to the colloquium and which delighted the audience, Christians as well as Muslims, Lebanese as well as Syrian.
The Choir participated the following day in the Mass celebrated by Bishop Abi Aad in the Cathedral of Saint Elie in Aleppo, before heading to Lebanon.
A delegation from the Lebanese Maronite Order and USEK participated in the colloquium and included Rev. Abbot Elias Khalife, Superior General of the Order, and Fathers Abdo badawi, Boulos Rouhana and Hani Matar who gave lectures and took part in the different activities of the colloquium.
