Visitors

Access

USEK Library welcomes the use of its collections by researchers, scholars, or others, and institutions that are not affiliated with the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, under certain conditions.

Visitors are entitled to consult and borrow books if their subscription category permits; they can also consult journals and other materials and obtain some information and reference assistance. To use the library, you need to apply for a Library card.

Library Account and Cards

  • To obtain a Library card (Category A, B, C and D), individuals must submit an online application form along with a scanned passport photograph and proof of identity (National ID, passport, etc.). You will be notified by e-mail once the card is ready.
  • As for institutions (Category E), they must fill out an institutional application form.
  • When requesting books, you must present your Library card. Library cards cannot be used by anyone else, and lost cards must be reported immediately. The Library is not responsible for any outcome arising from the unauthorized use of your Library card.
  • Every Library user has a right to privacy and confidentiality while using Library materials; therefore, names of borrowers and their accounts are never disclosed.

If you wish to use on-campus parking facilities, a yearly charge of 30 USD will be added to the subscription fee.

Payment method
  • Local visitors pay cash at the Library Access Office on the ground floor.

Walk-in access service

USEK Library offers its visitor a walk-in access service which allows our visitors to access certain databases, e-journals and e-books on the library premises (only).

Please note that even in the library, some E-resources are not available to external users due to licensing restrictions.

To use the walk-in access service please ask for assistance at the circulation desk in either reading room.

Wireless access

USEK Library provides all its subscribed visitors a temporary Wi-Fi connection. Login details will be delivered to you by email once your card is issued.

Eduroam:
All visitors from participating institutions can use USEK’s Eduroam secure wireless network by selecting the Eduroam wireless network (SSID) anywhere on campus. Users should use their home institution’s username (email format: username@domain ) and password to login to Eduroam.

Get Help

  • Ask Us for assistance with your research by contacting a librarian in person.
  • Research appointments with a librarian for in-depth help with your research paper or assignment.
  • Research guides provide you with targeted information on a specific topic or tool to help you in your research.
  • Cite your sources for how to cite your references properly.

Copy/Print/Scan (CPS)

  • All visitors may set up a CPS account on their USEK Library card.
  • To activate or recharge your account ask at the Circulation Desk.
  • The minimal activation or recharge fee is 5,000LL.
  • Note that scanning a document to your email address is free of charge.

Activities

  • Exhibitions to exhibit your artwork (paintings, photos, etc.) in the Library.
  • Film, Photography and Recording for organizing your session if you would like to make use of the premises for filming, photography or recording.

Change of Address

It is the responsibility of individuals to keep the Library informed of any address changes. Library fines will not be waived if visitor fail to notify us of a change of address. You can update your address with Library staff at the Circulation Desk.

IMPORTANT
Rules and regulations of USEK Library are to be respected. Failure to do so may result in the suspension of user borrowing privileges. Membership is discretionary and the administration reserves the right to refuse applications for membership without redress. The Library is responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality of a borrower's transactions and for providing an environment conducive for research.
