Memorandum of Understanding – USEK and LAU

On Monday December 4, 2017, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) and the Lebanese American University (LAU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration on the academic and research levels.

The signing ceremony took place in the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in the presence of USEK President Fr. Georges Hobeika and LAU President Joseph Jabbra, and deans and senior officers from both Universities. Both presidents expressed their firm commitment to this partnership that will contribute to the advancement of Lebanese higher education and to the well-being of students and the community. Fr. Hobeika acknowledged that “no single university, no matter how large or well endowed, can address future challenges by itself”.

Dr. Jabbra outlined the future challenges of the higher education sector and the job market where technology will be the cause of a decline in job opportunities over the coming 50 years, and the nature of work will change, making the jobs of tomorrow different from the jobs of today. This Memorandum is a step forward in combating the challenges by joining forces through this significant cooperation which Dr. Jabbra described as “the first of its kind”.
