The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts has had the pleasure of welcoming Slovene Director Mr. Miha Vipotnik from November 11 to December 2, 2007. In collaboration with Mr. Joseph Chemaly, assistant teacher at the Faculty, Mr. Vipotnik directed an interdisciplinary video-art workshop with the participation of students from the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the Department of Graphic Design and Advertising.
This workshop was aimed at creating a virtual metro station in Gemmayzeh where the visitor would be exposed to a series of art projects, pictures and videos. This virtual station is a key stage of “Metrout”, a global project of metro lines that cross Beirut, inviting travellers to discover the city’s cultural riches. The workshop’s production was the object of a video installation at the Snatch Social Club in Gemmayzeh on December 2, 2007.
This workshop also resulted in the construction of the following website: https://www.usek.edu.lb/metrout.
The website encompasses, among other things, all the projects and installations produced by the Faculty’s students in downtown Beirut.
