The Presidents of the Lebanese Republic, particularly after independence, played key roles in the Lebanese political scene. Some of them were reformative, others were revolutionary, while still others were traditional and sought to maintain as much stability as they could during crises. The only common point was that all of them, each in his own way, had an impact on Lebanon, on its society, systems, laws and roles. Who are these presidents and what were their main roles and achievements?
This booklet, which is published by the Phoenix Center for Lebanese Studies at USEK, seeks to simply and briefly answer these questions, relying on the most important phases in the lives of these presidents. It does not represent deep research or a thorough historical attempt, but rather provides an overview of those who were once entrusted with the fate of the Lebanese.
