The zajal poet Amin Ayoub is considered one of the founders of the theater and the transition of the zajal from the amateur phase to professionalism. His talent surpassed his studies. He starred at occasions due to his wit, timeliness, beautiful voice and kind spirit, besides the ability to face the “opponent” during the zajal improvisations. He sang with Assaad El-Khoury El-Feghaly (Chahrour El Wadi) in the first zajal band which was established in 1927, then in the “Bolbol El Arz” band, along with William Saab, Elias Kahwaji, Mansour Safi and others. He mainly performed on stage, winning devoted fans who came to attend his popular concerts.
