Student Mom
As a child and teenager, Cedra Eid loved arts and dancing, learned classical ballet, and worked on her talent over the years, taking classes in London and acting as a model for international designers. She also traveled a lot and won many gold medals as a basketball player.
She later graduated from USEK with a BA in Theater, a field which, alongside dancing, was her number one passion. In addition to participating in the Miss Lebanon pageant in 2004, she collaborated as a choreographer and performer on several shows and events in Lebanon and abroad and starred in the musical entitled Kawalis, by Paul Assal, and many subsequent plays.
Life challenged her with a failed marriage that nonetheless resulted in her most precious blessing, her son Marco.
Far from giving up, Cedra raised her son while working on major international events, such as the Miss Tunisia Pageant choreography. Most importantly, she went on to earn an MA in Performing Arts from USEK, working on her thesis during backstage breaks while overseeing the choreography and scenography of The Voice Arabia program in its adults’ and kids’ editions.
Through it all, she has also taught drama at Collège Notre-Dame de Louaizé (CNDL) and given special theater therapy classes to youth with special needs, in addition to raising her son and taking care of herself. Cedra’s family plays a major role in her motivation.
For the past five years, she has been teaching body expression, physical theater, and dance classes at USEK. More recently, she landed the leading role as an actor, dancer, and singer in Roméo Lahoud’s latest musical, titled Caricature. Her greatest achievement remains her own academy, the Cedra Dance and Performing Arts Studio, where people from all age groups and levels can take dance and theater classes.
Cedra’s career is still in its early stages, with many new experiences and challenges in store. Her experience has taught her that education and self-reliance are any woman’s most powerful weapons. In her opinion, the key elements of success are to keep going no matter how hard things may get and to always have faith.
Her favorite quotes are: “We know that by turning everything to their good God co-operates with all those who love him…” (Romans 8:28) and “Dance for love for life”. |
