Born in Ehmej in 1980, Carla Ramia began her singing career at an early age thanks to her father, Michel Ramia, a Lebanese artist who discovered her musical talent. At the age of five, she recorded “'ammo ya 'ammo” (عمّو يا عمّو), a tape comprising 14 songs for children which was distributed in Lebanon and several Arab countries. She also performed in many concerts for children across Lebanon.
Having completed her secondary education, Carla pursued music studies at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), where she gained a BA in Musicology (2002), a MA in Musicology (2004), and a BA in Arabic Singing (2004).
On June 21, 2002, Reverend Father Professor Louis Hage, Dean of the USEK Faculty of Music, awarded Carla the Wadih Al-Safi Prize in recognition of her vocal, artistic and academic skills in the presence of the legendary Lebanese artist himself.
In addition to giving religious and secular concerts in Lebanon and abroad (including in France, London, Montreal, Jordan, and Australia), Carla is a music teacher and coach in many schools, institutes, and universities, such as USEK, wherein she has been teaching oriental singing since 2008, and the Teachers’ Training College in Jounieh. She also teaches singing to candidates on TV shows.
