Abdo Tannoury is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering at the School of Engineering. Having joined USEK in 2021 as a part-time faculty member, he currently serves as an Assistant Professor. His research interests span both agricultural and environmental sciences, with his work published in highly cited scientific journals and patented.
From 2019 to 2024, Abdo was the Head of Environmental Microbiology and Composting Department at the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute (LARI). He was also a member in the Bacterial Plant Diseases, Environmental Parasitology, Bees Microbiology and Wine Science Departments from 2012 to 2024. Additionally, he mentored several research topics in the field of agriculture, applied microbiology and biotechnology sciences for master’s students from Lebanese and foreign universities.
Since 2013, he has been the founder and board member of the Food Heritage Foundation (FHF), serving as president in 2021 and treasurer from 2019 to date. The foundation supports local communities in both agriculture and agro-food sectors.
Since 2012, Abdo has led the Research and Development units within several private and non-governmental bodies in the fields of agriculture and environment, including Arcenciel (2012 – 2020) and other private initiatives such as ELKO Trading for Composting (2021 – present) and Waste2Energy Lebanon (2021 – present).
Abdo is also a private consultant with 17 years of experience designing and implementing solutions for both international and national organizations. His work focuses on technical, research and development and social levels, contributing to the growth of the agricultural and environmental sectors in Lebanon.
