Aline Mefleh is an Assistant Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Having joined USEK in 2024, she currently teaches courses in statistics as well as data science courses in the Department of Computer Science.
Aline’s research primarily focuses on extreme value theory, a specialized area of statistics. She is developing improved techniques for this theory, particularly in identifying trends in extreme events to determine if their frequency is increasing or decreasing over time. Additionally, her contributions involve applying the theory to real-world data for analyzing extreme occurrences. In the field of data science, her research extends to building statistical models aimed at detecting anomalies, with potential applications into various other Data Science topics. Her research has resulted in several publications in academic journals.
Aline has held various academic positions and has also worked professionally as a Data Science engineer, gaining valuable experience in both academic and professional fields.
