Bechara Karam is an assistant professor of Law at the School of Law and Political Sciences. He was awarded a PhD in Private Law from USEK in 2016, and recently earned an MA in Diplomacy and International Security in 2023. He joined USEK in 2016 as an assistant professor, and since 2021, he has been a member of the Higher Center for Research (HCR), serving as head of the unit concerned with law and political sciences. He is also the director of the Legal Research Center, an editor at the USEK Law Journal, and a member of the PUSEK editorial board.
Bechara’s main areas of research are obligations and contracts law, personal status, history of Lebanese law and legal methodology. He has published academic papers related to these fields of research in Lebanon or abroad and co-authored a book about legal methodology. His methodological approach is a blend of legal positivism and legal realism, focusing on the modes of production of legal rules. ORCID iD :
