Fr. Badih El Hajj

Professor
School of Music and Performing Arts
Block A, Room AM S114
Fr. Badih El Hajj is a professor at the School of Music and Performing Arts and serves as the Head of the Doctoral Commission. Having specialized in music history and musicology, he founded the Sound and Music Archives Center at USEK, which supports the preservation and digitization of the musical heritage of Lebanon and the Arab world.

As a researcher in ethnomusicology and popular traditional music from the Middle East, more particularly from Lebanon, as well as in Bedouin, Syriac, and Arabic music, Father Badih has authored several books, articles, and other related materials, in addition to multiple sponsorships of musical works that claim to do so.

His human and creative approach, as well as his musicological skills, have made him a highly sought-after thesis director among students for the past fifteen years. He is often invited to participate in conferences and various cultural activities, in Lebanon and abroad.

As a cosmopolitan polyglot, Fr. Badih knows how to combine the musical folklore of his country with the musical cultures of the world, developing an international artistic perspective in a world without borders.
