Léa Yahchouchi Abi Chaker is an associate professor of interpretation and translation in the Department of Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Having joined USEK in 2009 as both a lecturer and International Relations Chairperson at the Business School, she currently serves as the Head of Interpretation and Translation Programs and is a member of the Search Committee at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Her research interests and expertise cover sociolinguistics, focusing on multilingualism, native language acquisition, and the complexity of language dynamics in Lebanon and the UAE. She has also conducted studies in the field of interpretation and translation, particularly on feminist translation, differentiated instruction with a focus on Business English, and literature, including narrative and psychoanalytical analysis in Lebanese contemporary novels.

Léa is the author of Une recherche éperdue de la Mère: trois figures de la production romanesque contemporaine (PUSEK, 2016) that highlights the rich yet complex nature of Lebanese contemporary literature and sheds light on the interpretation of psychosocial challenges, especially those that erupted in times of crisis.

In her capacity as a translator and interpreter, she has successfully executed a variety of translation projects for academic, governmental, and multinational institutions.
