Mohammad Kacim is an associate professor at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Having joined USEK in 2008 as an assistant professor, he currently serves as the Head of the Department of Mathematics and had previously chaired the Department from 2014 to 2016. He has been actively involved in student advising and played a key role in coordinating the BS/MS programs in actuarial and financial mathematics. Specializing in functional analysis, he expanded his academic purview to include stochastic calculus, probability and statistics, and actuarial mathematics.
With over two decades of experience, Mohammad has taught a wide array of mathematics and applied mathematics courses. His teaching methodology combines rigorous research with practical applications to enhance student learning and engagement at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Mohammad research portfolio is rich and diverse, with a special emphasis on applying topological and homological methods to medical image analysis. This work has been showcased in numerous journal articles and collaborative research projects, including the co-direction of a PhD thesis in collaboration with the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne.
Significantly contributing to the academic community, Mohammad has been actively involved in the eBooks project alongside international publishers. His editorial and review work, particularly with the Pearson Editorial Team, has been instrumental in shaping several academic literatures in his field.
