Nancy Zgheib is an associate professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the School of Engineering. Having joined USEK in 2016, she currently serves as the Head of the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department. Additionally, she actively contributes to USEK's administrative functions by serving on the Admissions and Transfer Committee, the Recruitment Committee, and the ABET Committee. For the past few years, she has actively participated in Erasmus+ capacity-building projects and has been involved in the development and execution of several Erasmus+ MIC projects. She has also developed two projects in partnership with HES-SO funded by the Leading House Mena (Switzerland).
With over 14 years of teaching experience in the field of chemical engineering, she has supervised more than 20 master’s theses and engineering senior projects, as well as 2 PhD students. Her research interests focus on the development of new chemical formulations, polymerization techniques, the design and simulation of chemical processes, feasibility studies, and biomass valorization. She is particularly engaged in biofuel production from waste cooking oil and animal fat, recycling of used motor oil, and recycling of plastic mixture wastes.
Beyond academia, Nancy is a seasoned consultant with five years of experience in the beauty, chemical, and detergent industry. She specializes in product development, particularly in the creation of personal care products. Her innovative approach and management skills have led to successful collaborations with local and international industries.
