Odile El Khoury is an assistant professor in the Department of Design and Digital Media at the School of Architecture and Design (SAD). Having joined USEK in 1992 as a lecturer, she currently serves as the Head of the Master in Contemporary Art Program.
Previously working in the advertising industry, Odile has extensive experience in the Lebanese advertising industry. She established her own studio where she offers graphic design, copywriting, book design, corporate image, and packaging design services to businesses.
At USEK, she was the Head of the Graphic Design and Advertising Department. She has actively participated in academic committees, organized conferences, seminars, workshops, and exhibitions at the SAD, designed a multidisciplinary master’s program in Contemporary Arts, and participated in the NAAB accreditation process. Odile has lectured on communication and medias, design, and critical thinking, and taught several courses, including Typography, History of Graphic Design, Branding and Packaging Design, and Design Studio.
Partnering on several research projects with international designer Ruedi Bau, she delved into civic design, Civic City, and Dix-milliards-humains research platforms. She presented her research work, “Multilinguisme et autres complexités de la communication visuelle dans l’espace public libanais” at Théâtre St-Gervais in Geneva, “Les places publiques au Liban comme espaces de partage et de communication” at the Centre Pompidou, and “Inscriptions en relation” at the Porte Dorée in Paris.
Odile has been regularly contributing as lecturer in several conferences and seminars in Lebanon, Europe, USA, and Turkey, encompassing diverse topics such as design, communication, and plagiarism. She is particularly interested in the intricacies of graphic design in multicultural public areas, especially within a context like Lebanon.
