Rima Mattar

Associate Professor | Deputy President for International Affairs & Global Initiatives
Rima Mattar is an Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Translation at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Having joined USEK in 2006, she currently serves as the Deputy President for International Affairs and Global Initiatives. In her role, Rima has built a robust network of global partnerships, ensuring that USEK’s strategic plan aligns with international standards. She also oversees the University’s international strategy and its implementation across various academic and administrative departments.

Rima is a member of several high-level committees at USEK, including the USEK Executive Committee and USEK Academic and Research Council. She also serves as a Liaison Officer for both the USEK Board of Trustees and the Trustee, Governance, and Institutional Planning Committee.

Her academic experience extends beyond USEK, where she holds several international memberships, including: Member of the NAFSA Association of International Educators (USA), Member of the European Association of International Educators (EAIE), Member of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), Member of the Internationalization Committee at the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) , Member of the International Academic Advisory Committee (IAAC) for University rankings | QS-MAPLE, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom. Her involvement in these organizations highlights her leadership in shaping global academic standards and fostering international collaboration.

Rima represents USEK on the global stage, sharing her expertise in institutional development, governance, and internationalization. In charge of the University’s global efforts, she is responsible for enhancing international programs and partnerships through the Students Mobility and Study Abroad Unit and oversees the operations of the International Grants and Projects Unit at USEK. As a coordinator for several European joint and structural projects, her contributions have been instrumental to their success.
