Samar Azzi is an associate professor in the Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering at the School of Engineering. Having joined USEK in 2008 as an assistant professor, she currently serves as the Head of Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering, chair of the Green USEK committee and member of the University Academic Council.

Samar is a coordinator and consultant for different agricultural projects at the School of Engineering. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses, mainly Physical Chemistry and Sensorial Properties of Foods, Food Composition and Analysis, and Wine and Must Chemical Composition.

Her academic interests and publications are in the areas of food aromas and composition as well as chemical composition of must and wine. Samar has made keynote presentations on these topics at international conferences. She also works on sustainability projects and was appointed Chair of the Green USEK committee in January 2016.

Samar held the position of Director of the Laboratories at USEK from 2008 to 2022. She also served as a program committee member from 2013 to 2016 and an Ad Hoc committee member from 2014 to 2019.
