Samar Hage is an associate professor of French language and literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Having joined USEK in 2004 as a lecturer, she currently serves as Head of the Department of General Education.

Her research delves into contemporary French theater and applied linguistics, particularly on argumentative conversational functioning and discourse analysis. She is the author of L’Esthétique d’une argumentation dysfonctionnelle dans le théâtre de B.-M. Koltès (L’Harmattan, 2011), co-director of Roland Barthes. Vision plurielle d’un parcours pluriel (PUSEK, 2016), co-author of Dictionnaire Koltès (Champions, 2022), and has published various articles on modern theater, pragmatics, and Francophone literature.

Throughout her tenure at USEK, she has held several positions, including Academic Secretary at the Faculty of Letters, Assistant to the Secretary General, Head of Department of French Language and Literature, and Associate Dean at the Faculty of Letters. She chaired committees for program development and contributed to various committees (Ad Hoc, Admission and Transfer).

Additionally, she has led postgraduate and doctoral seminars on argumentation and discourse strategies, while providing training on the practical use of argumentative strategies in daily life.

With over than 15 years of teaching experience in schools, she also served as French language coordinator in multiple institutions, working on program development and enhancement, teaching quality, assessments and evaluation.
