Sandy Rihana is a professional with a rich background in engineering, technology, healthcare, and innovation. Having joined USEK in 2011 as a professor, she currently serves as the Head of Department of Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Technology Transfer Office. Since November 2022, she has been contributing her expertise as a member of the Strategic Advisory Board STAG-MEDEV at the World Health Organization (WHO).
Her credentials include certifications as a Digital Product Manager from Facebook and in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education from Babson College. With over a decade of experience in mentoring a wide array of technology projects encompassing medical devices, IoT, artificial intelligence, remote monitoring, telemedicine, and digital health solutions, Sandy’s consultancy expertise has been recognized in tech industries globally. She has provided consultancy services to Geenov-Glaizer Group in France and CardioDiagnostics in Lebanon. Moreover, she is an accomplished corporate trainer, imparting knowledge in technology, innovation, design thinking, leadership, and management, among other areas.
Sandy’s academic excellence was honored with the prestigious Guy Deniélou Prize for her doctoral work in the Technical University of Compiègne in France. Her accolades include the Best Presentation Award at BioSMART 2017, the USEK-CNRS-SCOPUS Bronze Award in 2019, and the Silver Award in 2022 for the quality and quantity of her scientific publications.
A Fulbright scholar at the University of South Florida, USA, and an invited researcher at the École Polytechnique Montréal, Sandy is an active participant and speaker at numerous international conferences and workshops. Her contributions to academia are substantial, with over 20 peer-reviewed articles as a first author and co-author in various interdisciplinary healthcare technology journals. Sandy’s career is marked by her dedication to innovation, education, and the advancement of healthcare technology.
