On Tuesday May 25, 2014, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) honored five students from the Faculty of Engineering for winning the first prize in the Vex Robotics Championship for Lebanese universities’ students, organized by Techno Future Lebanon in cooperation with the Faculty of Sciences in the Beirut Arab University. The winning students are: Christine Abdel Nour, Myriam Iskandar, Joe Khalil, Youssef Bou Karam and Anthony El Dik.
Eng. Marie Hojeij opened the event by congratulating the students who outperformed nine other teams who participated in the competition. She announced that they will represent Lebanon in the competition, which will take place in Hawaii in July.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Eng. Pascal Damien, indicated: “This success is the result of the high scientific competency of the students of the Faculty of Engineering...” He wished the team members full success and expressed the pride of the University in their achievement.
The General Secretary of USEK, Rev. Fr. Michel Abou Tacca, pointed out the strong points of the students of the Faculty of Engineering, along with their creative and intellectual power. He added: “Let this success be a lesson for group work; this is where the USEK students once again proved their merit.”
Finally, the winning students performed a live show before the attendees, showcasing how the robot they built can transport small and big balls and place them in their place.
