On March 21 and 22, 2013, for the fourth consecutive year, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) organized the INTEL International Competition, gathering together students from fifteen Lebanese schools. This was in collaboration with the Hariri Foundation and the Faculty of Engineering at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK).
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Reverend Father Dr. Marwan Azar, welcomed the organizers and participants. He shed light on the importance of this scientific competition and on its contribution to motivating students to research, innovate and strive to reach their goals.
The students presented 48 scientific and engineering projects, which were subject to a jury assessment. The jury chose the best 6 projects to go forward to the second round of the competition that will eventually take place in the United States of America.
Intel ISEF is the world's largest international pre-college science competition and it will be held on May 12-17, 2013, in Phoenix, AZ. It is the premier global science competition for students in grades 9-12. Each year more than 1,500 high school students, from about 70 countries, regions, and territories, display their independent research and compete for more than $3 million in awards.
