Between March 12 and March 15, 2013, the Faculty of Law at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and the Law World Federation organized an international seminar entitled: “Mergers and Acquisitions”, in which the following topics were explored through lectures: mergers and acquisitions, auctions in public and private companies, loan acquisitions, ongoing transactions, tender and exchange offers, preparation for acquisition and defense, acquisition and sale of subsidiaries, divisions and other assets, financing acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing and the complex arrangements for the sharing of assets and the formation and the running of strategic alliances.

The seminar brought together a gathering of lawyers and corporate advisors, representatives of investment banks, accountants and other professionals working in the field of mergers and acquisitions.

At the opening of the seminar, Reverend Father Talal Hachem, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law, delivered a speech in which he thanked the speakers at the conference and all those who contributed in its organization and sponsorship, saying that “This event is a unique opportunity to become familiar with the valuable experiences of the speakers; for the first time in Lebanon, the most important lawyer in financial transactions will explain to you every step of the mergers and acquisitions’ operations, its completion and the negotiations for it, while highlighting the latest trends.”

This was followed by a speech given by Mr. Sameh Dahrouj, a member of the Law World Federation, who pointed out that “The Law World Federation worked hard in order to ensure exceptional partners for this seminar, confirming that the market of mergers and acquisitions is expanding dramatically thanks to the increasing globalization, now also affecting the work of small and medium companies. Today, the MENA region became an important place for these operations as it attracts the interests of major investors for all over the world.”

At the end of the seminar that lasted four days, the participants received certificates of participation from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, signed by the five visiting experts in the field and the Reverend Father Talal Hachem.
