Voices in Harmony

The Faculty of Music at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) organized a musical gathering entitled “A Youth Choral Gathering: Voices in Harmony” in cooperation with the European Union and the Arab Music Academy, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and also the cooperation of the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat, the Arab Center for Youth and Music, and the Cultural Movement in Limassol – Epilogi.

The aim of this get-together was to confirm that cultures and religions can converge and interact rather than jostle for position and be in competition. While the institutions mentioned organized youth meetings on topics related to music and that are of interest to youth, the Faculty of Music, through of the harmony of voices related to religious music, decided to include the 18 confessions in Lebanon and to be open to the East and the West at a time.

During the inauguration session, Rev. Fr. Youssef Tannous, Dean of the Faculty of Music, welcomed the attendees and indicated that “The choice of the religious music heritage as a topic for this meeting in Lebanon confirms that this country is the place of coexistence of religions and the melting pot of cultures…Lebanon is more than just a nation, it is a mission...” He added, that this meeting emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in to encouraging its students to preserve their identity and heritage, to respect the other and to be open to the East and the West.

The event included three day workshops on different musical rituals in Christianity and Islam, along with musical evenings performed by Lebanese and European Choral Choirs.
