The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) organized its 4th International Conference on the Lebanese Commercial Code, entitled “Overlapping Perspectives of Researchers and Judges in light of the Reform of the Lebanese Commercial Code”.
The conference was held under the patronage and in the presence of H.E. Judge Souhail Abboud, First President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Higher Judicial Council, following the recent reform of the Lebanese Commercial Code (Law N° 126/2019 of March 29, 2019).
While shedding light on the four main aspects of the Lebanese Commercial Code reform, namely enriching, modernizing, simplifying, and securing, the conference aims to propose new legal tools and techniques to the economic players. This includes modernizing the law in substance and in form by relinquishing certain outdated rules and redefining the condition of married women and by simplifying certain aspects of pre-existing laws, such as the procedures for legal publicity, mergers and spinoffs.
This event, hosted by the School of Law and Political Sciences, in collaboration with the Judicial Training Institute, took place on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at 9:00 a.m., at the said Institute in Achrafieh.
