The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) and the Embassy of Colombia in Beirut organized a Colombian folk concert performed by Cimarrón as part of its world tour.
This event, hosted by the Latin American Studies and Cultures Center (CECAL), took place on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at 12:30 p.m., at Esplanade C.
Cimarrón performs Joropo music from the Colombian plains of the Orinoco River with a global and contemporary sound. Their powerful scenic force achieves a unique blend of its Andalusian, Indigenous American and African roots, with an impetuous and deep ethnic singing, amazing stomp dance, and fierce instrumental virtuosity of strings and percussions. The particular sound of Cimarrón leads a new wave of Colombian Joropo music.
