During the First World War, many people died in Greater Syria than anywhere else in the world. In Mount Lebanon, a semi-autonomous province of the Ottoman Empire, one third of the population died of famine and diseases.

In commemoration of these events, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) organized a conference entitled: “The Grand Famine in Lebanon: Amnesia or Occulted Memory?”.

This event, hosted by the Institute of History of the Faculty of Letters, took place on Thursday, February 22, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Auditorium of Building B.
