The Counseling and Accessibility Office (CAO) encompasses the Counseling Services Unit (CSU) and the Accessibility Services Unit (ASU). The CAO’s main goal is to optimize the support available to our students, following USEK’s commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. This involves addressing mental health conditions and accommodating individuals with diverse abilities, as well as offering educational support.

Mission

The Counseling and Accessibility Office (CAO) encompasses the Counseling Services Unit (CSU) and the Accessibility Services Unit (ASU) to provide comprehensive support to students. Our mission is to meet student needs, focusing on mental health, accessibility, and educational support. Grounded in USEK’s values of equity, diversity, and inclusion, we aim to cultivate a supportive environment for every student’s well-being and success.  

Vision

The CAO is a hub for holistic student support at USEK, fostering an inclusive community that prioritizes mental health, celebrates diversity, and ensures equitable access to educational resources. Through continuous improvement, we aspire to set a standard for excellence in equity and inclusivity within student services.

The Counseling Services Unit (CSU) offers:

• Live and online confidential individual counseling and psychological support sessions.
• Crisis intervention and orientation.
• Psychiatrist/psychotherapist referral and care.
• An environment promoting equality and inclusiveness.
• Academic accommodation.
• Awareness campaigns, training, workshops, psychoeducation activities, and prevention programs.

The Accessibility Services Unit (ASU) offers:

• Extensive intervention for enhanced academic guidance.
• Implementation of detailed academic progress tracking.
• Educational and academic support.
• Educational training/lectures and awareness-raising events.
• Specialist referral and care.
• Academic, physical, transportation, workplace, communication and housing accommodations.
• Collaboration with different USEK units to achieve shared goals effectively.
