Father Professor Hobeika has held several leading academic and administrative positions. At the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), he served as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities from 1992 to 2001. Between 2001 and 2010, he served as Vice-President for Research and Francophone Affairs, President of the Higher Center for Research, and President of the Doctoral College. As President of the USEK Construction Commission for 4 years (2002-2006), he oversaw all site constructions and renovations held at the University. In 2010, Father Professor Hobeika was appointed Vice-President for International Affairs and Deputy-President for Francophone International Affairs in 2013.
In 2011, Father Professor Hobeika received the insignia of Officer of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Order of Academic Palms), awarded by the French government for his major academic contributions.
On the national level, from 2002 to date, Father Professor Hobeika has been serving as a member of the Equivalence Committee at the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
On the international level, he is member of the Board of Directors of ACISE (Association of Catholic Institutes of Education), and the Sectorial Group of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU), and member of the Board of UNIMED (Union of Mediterranean Universities). He has contributed in several areas of studies and lectured in philosophy, politics, education, ethics, religion, and socio-economics. He is also a Visiting Professor and Lecturer in numerous countries including, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Chile, Argentina, and Australia. He is fluent in four languages: Arabic, French, English and German.
Father Professor Hobeika was born in Midane in the district of Jezzine in South Lebanon, and is also a French national. Following his degree in theology from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) in 1983, he received his PhD in German Philosophy with high distinction from the Paris-Sorbonne University in 1992. He is the author of several widely published books and articles.
