Within the framework of its activities for the 2011-2012 academic year, the Higher Center for Research organized a seminar titled: “The Challenges of Interdisciplinary Scientific Research.” This event is part of the cycle of annual seminars on epistemology and methodology for teachers/researchers at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) in order to initiate a shared analysis of the difficulties, obstacles and challenges that might be encountered during the course of interdisciplinary research.

This seminar was directed and animated by Mr. Matthias Dorries from the Université de Strasbourg – France.

Specific Objectives:
The seminar aimed to develop the following issues:

• The importance and the necessity of interdisciplinary research
• The epistemological conditions of the interdisciplinary approach
• Interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research: scientific reality and/or utopia?
• The difficulties of interdisciplinary research: from the principle of organization to interdisciplinary practice
• Interdisciplinary work centering and unity
• Critical reflection on examples of interdisciplinary exchanges and cooperation
