Ms. Kelly, a former US diplomat and Consul General in Marseille, France, served in postings in China, the Middle East, and North Africa. Prior to her 2015 retirement, she served in Washington as director for India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and the Maldives; political officer for Egypt and North African Affairs; and in the Office of Chinese Affairs. She served as the first policy advisor in the Secretary of State’s Office of International Women’s Issues.
Since her retirement, Diane remains actively involved in and supports social justice work in the Washington, DC area. She headed the Social Justice Committee at her Jesuit parish, Holy Trinity, in Georgetown, DC. After two terms as president of Waycroft-Woodlawn Civic Association, in Virginia, she is now on the executive board. In 2017, she became a policy advisor to the National Council on US-Libya Relations and since 2015, is a freelance Global Affairs consultant. She supports and works locally for the benefit of refugees, youth and the elderly.
