Dr. Serge Yazigi is an architect, urban planner, and head of Yazigi Atelier, also acting as a regional consultant in sustainable development with acquired experience in several Mashreq and Maghreb countries. Having founded the Yazigi and Sfeir consultancy firm in 1998, he established in 2005 the Yazigi Atelier, which he still heads. In parallel, Yazigi acted as a senior external consultant for Dar Al Handasah Nazih Taleb & Partners on all their architectural and planning projects in Lebanon and the region between 1999 and 2009. His consultancy activities include acting as a team leader for several projects financed by international agencies and organizations in relation to urban renewal and strategic planning in Lebanon and the region. His expert opinion was required for land use planning across several localities in the district of Aley, the Qannoubine Valley, and the Beiteddine area.
In 2007, he founded the Majal urban academic observatory (ALBA/University of Balamand) with the aim of facilitating research and assisting localities in the formulation of adapted development strategies. Moreover, he has directed several publications pertaining to law and regulation planning.
Dr. Yazigi has taught courses in architecture and planning at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA), the University of Balamand, the Lebanese University, the Saint Joseph University (USJ), and the American University of Beirut (AUB). He holds a PhD in Contemporary History in the field of urban renewal from the Université de Bordeaux 3, France.
