The Mexican Ambassador to Lebanon, H. E. Mr. Jorge Alvarez Fuentes, accompanied by the Head of Cultural Affairs at the embassy, Mrs. Claudia Maroun, visited the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik on October 6, 2012, where they made a large donation of books from Mexico. They were welcomed by the Director of the Latin American Studies and Cultures Center (CECAL), Mr. Roberto Khatlab, as well as the Executive Director of the USEK Library, Ms. Randa Chidiac.
The newly created collection of Latin America now includes numerous books in Spanish, Portuguese, French, English, Arabic and others, relating to all areas of the humanities, history, politics, literature, arts, etc. It also includes journals published by various Lebanese communities abroad, where many authors of Lebanese origins found their place, such as Edith Chehybar-Kuri and Carlos Martinez-Assad from Mexico, Milton Hatoum and Salim Miguel from Brazil, John Tofik Karam from the United States, Edgardo Zuein from Argentina, and Michel Saad of the Reunion Island, among others.
