Youssef Sfeir has 18 years of professional experience in the fields of international law, international humanitarian law, international affairs and diplomacy, conflict resolution and humanitarian affairs. He is a rooted civil society activist and a leader in several non-profit international organizations and associations.
Sfeir holds a degree in Lebanese Law from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) in Lebanon, and a diploma in General Law from the Université de Poitiers in France. He also holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy with a minor in International from the Notre-Dame University (NDU) in Lebanon, and a Diploma in Professional Mediation from the Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) in Lebanon.
Sfeir is a member of the Beirut Bar Association, serving as an attorney-at-law. Currently appointed as a legal adviser to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), he serves as a mediator at the Centre de Médiation Professionelle at USJ. He previously acted as the legal adviser to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and several other organizations.
Since 1997, Sfeir has served as a volunteer at the Lebanese Red Cross. Elected as a member of its Executive Committee in 2011, he has since carried out respectively the functions of Head of Planning and Development and Head of the Youth Department. Moreover, he is the former President of the Middle East Partnership Initiative – Lebanon Alumni Association (MEPI LAA), originating from the MEPI Program of the U.S. State Department. Founder of the Kesserwen.org website and the Keserwaniyat Association, he also acted as an observation coordinator with the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE). Sfeir is a certified international trainer in the fields of organizational capacity and certification assessment, good governance, and project planning process.
